The founder of G Training Health & Fitness, Steve G is a qualified Boxing coach/trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach with many years experience in the fitness industry. Steve has also had 15 years experience working in the Youth sector in many different capacities.
His passion is for others to live happy fulfilling lives to be enjoyed with family and friends. The programs he has developed are the vehicles to get you there.
Chessnie (Chess) has been training with us for 5 years. She knows the ins and outs of our programming, having won a 6 week challenge, and also competing for her first boxing match that she won! Chess usually runs our women’s only classes.
Jack has been with us for 5 years. He went to the world junior boxing tournament when he was 16yrs old, and fought alongside some of the great Australian professional Boxing champions of todays era. Jack has competed for us many times, coming away with some great wins. Jack is also certified Level one Boxing Australia. You can catch him at the gym most sessions, running circles around everyone else. He’s a machine!

'I started boxing at G Training when we moved to Alice. I loved the friendly and supportive atmosphere. Steve G encouraged me to keep up my training throughout my pregnancy and I will be forever thankful that I did. Boxing classes in the mornings made me feel great for the day ahead and I love boxing on a Saturday morning to start the weekend right. A great gym to train at and be a part of. I can’t wait to be back after I have my second baby, I highly recommend G training!'
'I have been a long term member at G training for around 5 years. In that time I have boxed in a number of places around the country and other sporting endeavours as a representative of the club. A big reason I enjoy the club is the community that Steve has built. This has allowed me to be a part of other people's journeys during times I've had setbacks, this i am very grateful for. I joined at 101kg at 5'8 tall, then in peak fighting condition I was down to 79.9kg.The strength and conditioning G training offers has helped me improve in many areas. In the beginning my deadlift was 150kg. Now I can do 200kg. Steve’s ability to build on my experiences and help me develop more technical skill and useful ring craft has led me to have more wins under him than any other coach I’ve had before.'
'I started travel nursing and my first contract was in Alice Springs. I was drawn to G Training Health & Fitness due to the atmosphere of the old boxing gym. I did both boxing and HIIT sessions, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was also great to see the community involvement with the kids in each class.
The gym is unique, it has diversity, it was inviting and never did I feel judged - it is a very supportive environment. G training gym has a great trainer Steve who has helped me to continue my training with a positive attitude each week, maintaining consistency and upkeep of technique. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for support, technique, motivation and a good atmosphere. Unfortunately, my journey at G Training recently ended due to another travel nursing contract.'
'I started with G training back in 2019. From the moment I stepped into the gym I felt welcomed by Steve and the gym community! It was exactly what I was looking for. I’ve come and gone over the years due to shift work being in and out of Alice springs but I’ve always known I can rely on the continued support from Steve and the gym community whether I’m there or away. During 2020 when Covid closed the gym and group classes shut down Steve offered us equipment to train at home which was an absolute life saver. During this time I also took the opportunity to seek PT sessions with Steve. During this time I gained some of my best gym results! I can’t recommend the gym enough if you’re seeking a supportive community with solid workouts when in Alice Springs!'
'Steve came across as quiet, laid back but you could tell he knew his business. It came to me as quite a shock when one day he told me he was leaving his job and opening a gym. I thought to myself ‘good luck’ there’s an abundance of gyms in Alice Springs, I hope he knows what he was doing. I was soon to find out that he did!
Fast forward several months and tiring of doing the same old routines of traditional weight training, I ventured into G Training and started boxing sessions. Being a complete novice to the sport, Steve’s guidance and encouragement turned my training regime around and I slowly gained a new appreciation for boxing and found out I had capacity for aerobic fitness as well! .... in the words of the great Molly Meldrum ‘do yourself a favour’ and check out G Training and give yourself up to Steve G’s unique house of pain.'
'I’ve trained at G Training since I was roughly 10yrs old. I started with the kids boxing then worked my way up to HIIT and boxing. I race dirt bikes and use his great training plan to improve my fitness and performance in races. Steve looks after me and everyone else in the gym in every session and works hard to keep us fit and healthy. He loves to chuck in a cheeky extra set every now and then though. Steve has helped improve my fitness and performance in dirt bikes and in everyday life. At the end of last year I went from 80kg at 16 years old to 70kg and able to move faster and be stronger than ever. Steve has created an awesome community that supports and welcomes everyone.'

'I learned about G-training from Jack and at the time I was tossing between up Boxing and Hockey, but i decided to give G-training a shot. I started Training at the G in 2019 and i was 112kg. Coach Steve has helped me a lot with my health and fitness fast forward 4 months i had my first fight and my official weight was 87kg. I enjoy training at G-training the camaraderie and the relationships i have built with the other members are irreplaceable.'
'I've been training at G Training on and off for a while but recently committed myself to do the morning boxing classes mon, wed, fri. It's a great set up, convenient times with my work schedule and Steve is a great trainer. He's great at pushing you that extra mile and loves to mix it up so it's not the same old stuff every time. The clientele that go there are great and Steve is highly regarded in boxing circles here in Alice Springs. 'I really like boxing. We get to do heaps of different stuff. I get to play with the other kids and it’s really fun. I get to spar with other kids (in the ring) and learn how to fight properly. I also learn about respect and not to use boxing at school or home.'
